January 1, 2014 - January 26, 2014 (Lake Havasu City, AZ to Oregon and back again)

2014 has started out rather sad for me.  I was working on updating our blog on Saturday evening, January 4, 2014 when the phone rang.  It was from my mom....hmmm that's odd since I'm usually the one who gives her a call.  I answered and it was my brother Bryan.  After a surprised hello, he got to the point, he was calling to tell me that we lost a brother today.  Even now it is hard for me to really imagine, it was so unexpected.  Needless to say, I was in total shock, after some brief details we hung up as he had more of my brothers to call.  Needless to say, it has turned my world upside down for a bit.  We made arrangements for my friend Marie to come and water my plants and got packed up and headed out to Oregon to be with my mom and family early the next morning.

It was a long two day drive but we made it without any mishaps.  I have such a loving and understanding husband, he did all the driving both going and coming back.  I'm not going to go into a lot of details about the last three weeks, other than to say that we attended three, yes that was three funerals during our stay in Oregon.  We buried my uncle Jerry, then my brother Greg and then a very dear 92 year old friend from our church family in Bend.

We did get to spend some quality time with my mom and my brothers, I sure wish it could have been under different circumstances.

We headed back to Arizona on the 20th and arrived back at the 5er late on the 21st.  We did take the I-5 route so we got to see different scenery.  We have spent the last week slowly getting ready to get back into our routine down here.

Saturday, December 28 - Wednesday, December 31, 2013 (Lake Havasu City, AZ)

Saturday

After breakfast, our landlord Sal, stopped by to drop off our electric bill and to collect the January park rent.  Sal is a very nice guy and we spent some time visiting.  He also has a vacation house here in Havasu and offered to give us a tour and since we like looking at houses so much, we took him up on it.  He has a very nice vacation house and it is in excellent shape, he offered to sell it to us, but we declined.  =)

We are going to attend our resorts New Years Eve party and the theme is Diamonds to Denim, so after our house tour, we decided to check out a local shop that was full of "bling".  Boy, that was the place to go, I was able to find a belt, necklace, earings and a bracelet for very reasonable prices.  While we were shopping we ran into an old friend from Bend who is full time RVing with her husband.  We thought we had seen there truck/fiver the other day and had planned on scouting out the local RV parks to see if it really was them.  It was good to chat with Marie for awhile, we'll try and get together with them before they leave in two weeks.

After we got home from our successful shopping adventure, the rest of the day was spent updating our blog along with our daily walk in the park with Gracie.

Sunday

We attended church at Hilltop and again really enjoyed and got alot out of the message the pastor gave.  On our way home, we ran across a model home that was open, so we stopped.  It was a really nice floor plan, we really liked it alot but unfortunately it's a little out of our price range, but it's fun to look.  The realtor was very informative about the area and we spent quite a bit of time chatting with him.

After a bit of lunch, and because it was one of those very windy days I decided to pull out a "paint by number" project I had purchased back in Oregon.  My grandma used to do paint by number paintings which I have one framed, so I thought I might give it a try and see if I like it.

It was a lot of fun, but I didn't get very far, I can see that this will take awhile.

Monday

Our line dancing class was cancelled because our instructor was sick today.  I had been wanting to try another exercise class that they offer during the same time which is called "Walk Away the Lbs."  Well let me tell you, it was a very good workout and something I will probably do on the days I don't have line dancing because they offer the class 5 days a week.

The rest of the day was spent doing some house chores like laundry and grocery shopping, nothing to very exciting.

Tuesday

This was a pretty non-eventful day, I did the walk away the lbs class again and really enjoyed the workout.  Rich and I took Gracie on a walk around the park.  It seems like our walks can stretch out pretty long because we are always stopping to chat with folks.  Nothing else much too report.

Wednesday

Unfortunately our Walk Away the Lbs class was cancelled today because the area the class is held was already decorated for the New Years Eve party tonight.  Drats....well my friend Marie and I decided we'd walk the park together so we could get some exercise in anyway.  We had a nice visit during our walk.

The day was pretty relaxing, we took a nice long walk with Gracie and met some nice folks from Neskowin, Oregon that we spent quite a bit of time visiting with.  They had two Yorkies so Gracie got to meet some new friends too.

Then it was time to get dressed for the New Years party.  I put on all my "bling" and we were ready to go.

These were the friends we shared our table with at the dance.
