Today is a travel day, so we try and get up a little early so we can hit the road around 9:00 a.m. I'm happy to report that we were pulling out of our campground at 9:00 a.m. this morning. I think it's the first time we've hit it exactly on the nose. We had about a 3 hour drive ahead of us and we arrived at the Lake Mead RV Village around noon.

Usually on the days we travel, we don't get too excited about getting too much exploring done outside our campground and today was no exception. We could see Lake Mead from our campground but it was about half a mile away, so we decided to drive the pickup down to check it out. It was a rather warm afternoon and having been in Williams for the last week, we had gotten used to cooler temps. I have to say, Lake Mead was rather smelly. There were tons of dead mussells on the beach and the beach was very rocky. There were some people swimming in the lake but I couldn't get past the smell.
We had a pretty laid back evening just chilling out in the 5er.
Friday
The plan for today was to run some errands this morning. It was very windy out today and the wind was forecast to last all day and into the evening. This is the first time that Rich had to actually throw some rope over the slide toppers to keep them from making so much noise. Other than a couple walks through the rv park and the adjoining state campground, we just hung out around the 5er.

Saturday
We originally were going to head toward Zion National Park today, but the forecast was for more wind so we decided to stay put through the weekend. Again, we didn't do much except research the Zion/Bryce Canyon National Parks and take a couple walks through the campground.
Sunday
We attended the Christian Center Foursquare Church in Boulder City. The senior pastor was celebrating her 82nd birthday this weekend so the service had a little different feel than normal. After church we stopped for our Starbucks latte and then headed to the Hoover Dam.
The Hoover Dam is an amazing engineering feat for sure! I don't care for heights and boy it sure made me dizzy looking over the edge. We couldn't believe how many people were visiting today.

The water sure was a pretty color |
Looking up Lake Mead, you can see how low the lake is |
That's a long way down...... |
The white line is the high water mark which was last reached in 1986. We heard the lake has dropped between 75-125 feet, it definitely is low.... |
The marker behind me didn't show up, but one foot is in Nevada and the other is in Arizona =) |
The water was so clear that we could see a school of fish; they are in the center of the picture |
After our tour we just went back to the 5er and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon and evening. Tomorrow we head for Utah and Zion National Park.
