Friday, November 15, 2013 (Las Vegas, NV)

We got up early this morning and took advantage of the fitness gym they have here. It has better weight lifting equipment than the last park, but only one eliptical and one treadmill.

After we got cleaned up, we were going to stop at McDonalds for a quick sausage/egg mcmuffin and then run some errands. We saw several McDonalds on the drive to the rv park yesterday but they were the wrong direction, so we plugged McDonalds into our GPS and off we went. Hmmm, this is getting interesting, it looks like the GPS is taking us down by all the big casinos on the Las Vegas strip. Yep, sure enough, they are all around us, but no McDonalds to be seen.  We ended up on the backside of some casino but we found a place to turn around and plugged in another destination just to get us out of there. In the course of running our errands, we finally did find a McDonalds, so did get our breakfast after all.

We found a really pretty mall called Town Square which was actually quite close to our rv park here that we both really liked. There were so many trees in the parking area as well as spread around the shops and there were tons of shops. There is no end of places for a person to spend their money. Again, living in a RV has it benefits, it sure curbs the impulse spending. We were on a mission to find a better way to connect our laptop with a secure WIFI connection or invest in an Ipad, so visited the Apple store which was totally packed. We got some good advice from a sales person, which sent us to the Verizon store where we ended up with a hotspot connection that works with our iphones as well as our laptop and if we decide in the future to get an Ipad, will work with that also. So many of the rv parks don’t have a secure WIFI connection and the signal is so weak that it is hard to even get connected, we wanted something more secure and reliable.

After running errands, we came back to the rv and had lunch and took Gracie for a nice long walk. Late in the afternoon, we decided to walk to a casino that we could see from our rv park called the Silverton. We thought it would be a quick walk across the highway, but it ended up being quite a bit farther than we expected, that was quite a walk. Attached to the casino is a Bass Pro Shop, so we had to check that out and it was gigantic and two stories tall. You could have spent hours in there checking everything out. Between the Bass Pro Shop and the casino was a huge aquarium and when we walked by they had a diver in the aquarium feeding the sting rays. They had lots of different types of beautiful colorful fish in addition to the sting rays, it was quite interesting watching all the different fish.

Rich and I are not big gamblers, but did find a couple penny slot machines and contributed a couple dollars which kept us occupied for about an hour. After an hour, we had both had enough and were ready for something to eat. There was a 50’s type hamburger restaurant in the casino, so we decided to try that. After our burgers, we decided we’d had enough of the smokey casino atmosphere and headed back home. Good thing we had long walk ahead of us, it will help work off the french fries we just ate and hopefully the fresh air will take the smoke out of our clothes and hair.

The rest of the evening we just hung out at home in our nice smoke free environment. We have sure noticed in our travels that there are still a lot of smokers out there compared to what you would find in Bend.
