Saturday, April 20 (Lebanon, Oregon)

Saturday, the day is finally here; we are ready to hit the road. We got up, had our breakfast and started getting the final touches on our packing up. We had to check out and get our security deposit refunded, so that took a little bit, but we finally were ready to pull out around 10:00 a.m. We were going to try and stop for one last final Starbucks. Well we forgot we were much later than we normally would be and when we saw the parking lot, decided that plan wasn’t going to work, so after a few tense moments of getting ourselves turned around we were headed back on the highway without our coffee. =( Like always there is always a good lesson to be had especially when the truck and the fiver is 54 feet long, you just can’t fit into spaces you normally can, or even turn the corners you normally can. =)

We had a very pleasant and uneventful drive to Lebanon, We got to
Gill’s Landing & RV Park around 1:00 and got setup in a very nice spot. We have a great view of the South Santiam River. We had scoped out a different spot when we were here last week, but it was occupied, but I prefer this site with its peaceful river view.

After getting set up, we drove up to Sodaville to visit Lucille Cooper, Rich’s other mother-in-law. Lucille is able to live in her family home with help from her kids, she’s 94 years old. We had a very nice visit and she sent me on our way with a couple sprigs of bluebells from her yard. I love all the spring flowers and trees that are blooming this time of year over here, they are so pretty. We stopped and got KFC chicken and some A&W rootbeer to make a float. Having KFC chicken when in Lebanon is a Bailey tradition I think.
