Friday, May 31, 2013 (Spokane, WA)

We woke to pretty blue skies today. After our morning walk/jog and breakfast we got our list of addresses for the stores we wanted to hit and headed out. First stop was Petsmart to pick up some more dog food and treats for Gracie. We had tried to find her brand of dog food the other day at a Petco and they didn’t carry it any more.

Second stop was a store called the White Elephant. It is an older store that is filled with hunting/fishing/camping section and then a toyland with lots of kids toys. The only thing we walked out of there with was a strap. We are going to try and make Gracie’s crate more secure in the pick up when we are traveling. Right now she rides in her crate on the console between Rich and I. When we go around sharp corners, I usually have to hold on to it so she doesn’t go sliding off. We’ve been looking for some kind of dog seat that is high enough so that she can see out but still be secured, so far we haven’t found anything, so we’ll try and make up our own.

Third stop was suppose to be Trader Joe’s but when we got to there, we decided to have a bite to eat and then there was a used bookstore we just had to check out. They had a bargain bag of books for a buck. Of course it was only certain sections of the bookstore that you could use to fill your bag, but I didn’t have any trouble filling a bag. I stuck to all paperbacks – need to watch the weight we are adding to the fiver. I ended up with 21 books. Should be set for reading material this summer. Then it was off to Trader Joe’s.
At Trader Joe’s we like to buy their gallon of Aloe Vera juice which is only $8.00 which is very reasonable and that is one of the main items we were shopping for at that store. Well wouldn’t you know it, they were out and it was coming in tonight on a truck if we wanted to come back tomorrow and pick some up. Rats, we’ll have to see if we’ll be back in that part of town or not before we head out. I’m not too sure how far east Trader Joe’s stores are located so we may have to find another supplier.

We were planning on checking out the REI store here in Spokane, but it was getting later in the afternoon and being a Friday afternoon, we decided we’d rather not deal with the traffic so headed back to the fiver.

We got back and got our groceries put away and then just kicked back the rest of the evening. Everything was good until we went to get ready for bed. Since our tick scare with Gracie last week, we’ve been giving her a good going over at least once day. I was doing my tick check and flipped her over on her back and there was this big red circle with kind of a light center on her belly….uh oh what is this? I jumped on the internet and did some quick research and came up with three options…1) bug bites, 2) ringworm and 3) a bulls eye rash that can be a symptom of Lyme disease. Looks like a vet visit is in store tomorrow for Gracie.

  1. Get a Kindle and a library card! Free books and one little electronic device! Works for me. But I still love picking up books in used book stores.
