Wednesday, May 29, 2013 (Clarkston, WA)

We started our morning out with our walking/jog routine, always great to get some cardio exercise. After breakfast the plan was to head into Clarkston to the local Starbucks with our computer to do some research on which direction to head next, we have a couple options we are toying with. Before we could leave though, we had to wait for the sprinklers to stop. They water the grass on Monday/Wednesday/Fridays and boy do they water. We had to pull in our one slide because the water sprinklers were hitting it so hard. I wonder what the people in tents do? Yikes, this definitely helps us decide that we’ll be leaving tomorrow, Thursday, we could stay in this site until Friday, but then we’d have to wait until after the sprinklers were done in order to tear down our site and everything would be sopping wet, so Thursday it is.

It was a rainy drive into Starbucks, the perfect day for sipping on a latte and doing some research. We haven’t had a Starbucks for quite some time, we were due. =)
First we decided to make a quick stop at the local Chamber of Commerce and see if they had some maps of Idaho and Montana. Yes they did, and we came away with a lot of research material as well as some recommendations by the very helpful employee.
We spent a couple hours in Starbucks, never did pull out the laptop, just perused through the pamphlets we had picked up trying to decide, this way or that? Finally we had enough and decided to do some site seeing. I had a brochure on Hells Gate State Park, which might be an option if we wanted to stay in the area. They have some nice bike trails, which before the rain today we were thinking of checking out. Unfortunately Hells Gate State Park didn’t have any sites that would be big enough for us to fit in for the weekend. Oh well. We stopped in Lewiston, ID, which is just across the river from Clarkston and topped off the diesel tank in preparation for our departure tomorrow. There was a considerable difference in fuel prices between Clarkston, WA and Lewiston, ID.
When we got home, is was still wet and rainy so we did some more research and finally decided to head up to Spokane and spend some time in that area before heading down toward Yellowstone Park.

The sun finally came out in time for us to take Gracie for a little walk around the park. We saw an eagle??? nest with some babies in it, but you guessed it, we didn’t have the camera. I don’t know why we can’t remember to bring the camera with us at all times. We took it when we went into town but didn’t come across anything picture worthy.

Back at the rig just in time, because a thunderstorm moved into the area. It didn’t last too long, but it sure soaked things down good. I don’t think they would have needed to water today. =)

That was pretty much our day, we didn’t get to do as much as we planned here like riding the levee bike trail, but it was a nice short stopping over point and I would definitely come back. I’d just ask those friendly camp hosts if they could adjust the sprinklers so they didn’t soak down our fiver so bad.
